Boutique hotel set within the Sutri Archaeological Park
Boutique hotel set within the Sutri Archaeological Park
Welcome to the Carolus Park Hotel, an oasis of peace and relaxation set within an ancient archaeological park. Our name reflects our history: “Carolus” honors one of history’s greatest emperors, Charlemagne—who, according to historical records, stayed at the castle perched on the cliff (clearly visible from our grounds) during his journeys to and from Rome. “Park” refers to the stunning natural setting that surrounds not only our hotel but also the ancient Etruscan-Roman amphitheater, the Mithraeum, and the entire local archaeological site.
Situated directly along the Via Francigena route, the Carolus Park Hotel in Sutri boasts an ideal location for exploring the Upper Lazio region. Our property is less than 30 minutes from Viterbo and its thermal baths, and just 30 minutes from Rome, making it the perfect base for hikers, as well as for cultural tourism, sports tourism, and business trips in the Tuscia area.
The newly built rooms feature breathtaking views of the historic village, the archaeological park on Charlemagne’s Cliff, and the magnificent natural landscape of the Viterbo Tuscia region.
The cuisine is rooted in the local area but takes a more modern approach—one that, despite the creative reinterpretations, allows local products to remain the true stars.
The wellness area features a Finnish sauna, a Turkish bath, sensory showers, and a relaxation area with a herbal tea corner. There are also two treatment rooms for massages and various beauty treatments. The fitness area is equipped with Technogym equipment.
Our meeting room, equipped with a drop-down screen but configurable to suit various needs, can accommodate up to 30 people.
Sutri is a town of extraordinary importance in the Tuscia area of Viterbo. Historically known as the “Gateway to Etruria,” it stands on a tufa spur and, for millennia, served as a strategic bottleneck—an unavoidable passage for anyone traveling between Northern Italy and Rome.
The beauty and unique character of the setting make the Carolus Park Hotel—and its on-site restaurant, Il Calice del Re—the ideal venue for hosting all kinds of events, such as weddings, anniversaries, and graduations.
